Material & Weighting

Every other putter you have used in the past was probably made of out steel. While steel makes a good putter, Sweet Spot Golf (SSG) decided to change things up a bit. Your Ax putter is made out of a block of solid titanium. Titanium is twice as strong as steel, but half as heavy. What does this mean for you? Well, it means that if you want to alter the weighting of a steel putter, you can’t really do much. With titanium, those perimeter weights that you see have much more of an effect. Therefore you have a greater range of weighting to choose from, allowing you to customize your weighting like no other putter before.  I know what you are thinking: “If titanium is so much lighter than steel, why does this putter feel slightly heavier than my steel one?”  Well, by having the body so much lighter, shifting that much weight to the perimeter (though the weights) gives the Ax an astronomically high Moment of Inertia (MOI) when compared to other putters which keeps your putter face square through impact- even on those occasional off center hits.  The Ax comes with standard perimeter weighting that is set to give you the highest MOI possible.

The weights also serve another function too. With the slightly heavier overall weight, the Ax takes all those pesky quick twitch muscles out of the putting stroke- you know, the fingers and hands that shake occasionally. You will engage your larger more stable muscles enabling you to putt with a smooth(er) stroke more consistently.

Accent Design

The first thing you probably noticed about your Sweet Spot Ax is the design. COLORFUL. The design is very functional on the putter - we call it the Precision Positioning System or PPS for short. In a nutshell, the design creates an aiming line in your mind’s eye. There isn’t a line on the putter, but believe me, it’s there. All you have to do is look for it. What’s really cool about it is that the perceived line extends past the putter itself- almost to infinity. The putter basically aligns itself. If only it could carry your bag like your caddy….

Putter Face

The Ax has a finely milled face that really grabs the ball and starts it on a true roll with little initial skid. It also is one big sweet spot. Off center hits along most of the entire face roll with the same speed, feel, distance, and line as a centered strike. Maximum forgiveness equals maximum efficiency. I mean, why putt twice if you can putt once? Seriously.

Maintaining your Ax

Titanium won’t rust, pit, or corrode. That is good. With any finish, it would be best if you kept your Ax covered when not using it on the green. I mean, who wants to get knocked around constantly?
